Location:

North Finchley is centred on Tally Ho Corner, the junction of the roads to East Finchley, Church End, Friern Barnet and Whetstone. It is primarily a residential and shopping area, with several supermarkets and many restaurants.

Properties in North Finchley are remarkably diverse, encompassing a huge range of architectural styles from 1930’s built houses around Friary Park and Lyndhurst Avenue to the large Edwardian properties around Woodside Park Road and the more modest Victorian cottages of Fredericks Place. A number of recently newly built apartments sit on North Finchley High Road with mixtures of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments today that are highly sought after.

The new North Finchley bus station opened in 2004 the bus station is served by routes 13 and 460, and by through routes 221 and 125 to Edgware and Finchley Central, respectively. Most commuters use Woodside Park tube station which is conveniently located on Woodside Park Road, off North Finchley High Road.

North Finchley falls within the London Borough of Barnet, which is well-known for having some of the country's best public and private schools as well as well as highly respected colleges. These include Northside Primary School, The Wren Academy, St Michael's Catholic Grammar School, The Compton School and Woodhouse College.

Places of interest:

The area has a number of popular places of interest with parks, shops, gymnasiums, places of worship and transport. Friary Park is owned and managed by Barnet Council, and has a children's playground, tennis courts, a bowling green, a pitch and putt, a skateboard park and a cafe. Its most interesting features ecologically are ancient oak trees and a small stream called Blacketts Brook, a tributary of Pymme's Brook. There is access from Torrington Park, Friary Road and Friern Barnet Lane. The Arts Depot is an award winning cultural hub which incorporates a 395 seat theatre, 148 seat studio theatre, gallery, café, bar, studios, and architecturally stunning public spaces. Other popular places include Great North is conveniently located just off the North Circular road, and features a Vue multiplex cinema, the Finchley Lido leisure centre, Hollywood Bowl and a selection of great family restaurants.
